WVSC staffs the health center with at least one full time nurse. The health center staff will post call hours for campers for routine needs and are available 24/7 for emergencies. The WVSC contracts with a Local Pediatrics practice for non-emergency visits and utilizes the Spear Memorial Hospital for after hours and emergency care. Both facilities are 25 minutes from camp. The Town of Waterville Valley employs its own EMT's and provides 7 x 24 ambulance service, providing emergency response in minutes.

All campers must have a full physical examination within 24 months of his/her attendance at Waterville Valley Summer Camp.

All oral, topical and inhaled medications must be ordered through CampMeds. This includes any vitamins or supplements. Please see the link to this organization. This service provides oral medications in unit dose packaging for the camp. CampMeds bills your insurance carrier for your child's medications. You pay a nominal fee. CampMeds is responsible for delivering all medications to the camp several days before camp starts and ensuring the physician orders and parental consent are in place. Campers who require injectable medications such as growth hormones or Epi-pens, for example will bring their own medications. See our link for the required medication forms. Standard camp medication administration times are at meals and before bedtime. By parental permission, rescue inhalers, Epi-pens and diabetic supplies may be maintained by the camper. All other medications are stored in appropriate locked cabinets/receptacles in the health center.

The health center has several beds for campers who feel unwell and are unable to sleep in their bunks. You will be informed within 24 hours if your child spends the night in the infirmary. Every effort is made to prevent the spread of contagious illnesses, while attempting to return the camper to his/her bunk as soon as possible.

The health center stocks a select number of over-the counter medications and maintains standing medication orders for these items. This includes medications such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl and Dramamine. By state law, campers are not allowed to maintain any type of medications on their person. Therefore, please do not send over the counter medications with your child. We will have these available to your child, should he/she need them.
